We’ve been shortlisted for a CIPR PRide Award for our work with one of Nottingham’s oldest family businesses

We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been shortlisted for a CIPR PRide Award for Best Use of Media Relations for our campaign with Nottingham-based family business A.W Lymn.

Our entry, entitled ‘Trusted to Tell the Story of Five Generations,’ details the impressive headline heights we hit with an initial 6-month campaign of media relations that ran across both national and regional broadcast, print and online news, as well as international publications. Its aim was to ensure the business was at the forefront of thought leadership articles and coverage for both the funeral sector and general business news.

With a simple brief to ensure a delicate balance of promoting the business’s stand-out reputation while ensuring all content was sensitively and tastefully packaged, in just 6 months we:

  • Achieved 87 pieces of media coverage, equating to 14.3 pieces per month on average
  • Reached nearly 16m people with A.W. Lymn stories/ company news, averaging a reach of 1.9m per month
  • Secured six prime-time broadcast interview slots for A.W. Lymn Directors/ senior team members
  • News-hijacked national stories to deliver comment from A.W. Lymn in national news – BBC News, talkRADIO, The Mirror
  • Secured regular coverage in leading funeral trade titles – Funeral Service Times, Funeral Service Journal, Funeral Director Monthly
  • Built the profile of the business on the national media stage, catching the eye of Stacey Dooley’s production team which led to the BBC One in depth documentary ‘Stacey Dooley: Inside the Undertakers‘ being filmed exclusively at A.W. Lymn’s headquarters and across Nottinghamshire.

Emily Winsor Russell, Director at eden, said: “The PR programme we deliver for A.W. Lymn is the perfect example of how a fast-paced media relations strategy packed with perfectly timed creative ideas can make a huge impact.

“Our partnership with the fifth-generation family firm, which is a household name in all Nottinghamshire communities, marks the first time the business has worked with a public relations agency in its 113-year history. We’re delighted that our immediate appreciation of the Public Relations objectives for such a well-loved, established and evolving Nottinghamshire business has been recognised and we’re so proud of the whole A.W.Lymn-eden account team for the exceptional results they have achieved so far.”

The CIPR PRide Awards are recognised as the industry’s leading public relations awards, rewarding the work of PR agencies, teams and individuals across the UK. The ceremony will take place online on Thursday the 13th of October and we’re up against some really impressive competition in our category. We’ll be keeping everything crossed and can’t wait to find out the results.
